16th century etchings 

While working on this piece I was guided by this idea; “WWDD“ or "what would Durer do?". The initial idea was to make an artwork in a mid 16th century style while developing the artistic sensibilities, and personality of this fictional artist. Thinking about the time period defined by  its wars of religion, and increases in technology and new ways of thinking about the world while being a time period still steeped in medieval superstition and symbolism.then finding this artist's place in that world. The other part of the project was to mock up fictional sketch books of this artist showing his occult interests becoming more all consuming as well as his increasingly nihilistic and secluded world view.
