I like to design my narrative illustrations around compositions that create the story. I often compare my process of composition to composition in music, and in this comparison the over all ,high contrast, first read is the harmony and melody of the piece of music/painting. However in music composing an other term commonly used is instrumentation. Instrumentation is what the qualities the instrument being used brings to the piece. in other words how do the connotations a banjo brings to a piece of music compare to that of a harpsichord. In the visual medium I also compare this to the specific aesthetics of the production design of a film. I focused on this heavily to create the tone and affect of the piece though the theoretical production design of a film. This is the reason I designed it as a top down set before creating the final piece which payed more attention to the composition of figures, instead I created the work from a Birds Eye view so I could see all the elements I would use. Then I could decide where to put the camera to include those combination of elements.
